  • "a person's a person, no matter how small." ~dr. seuss

from there to here..from here to there..i've struggled with a nursery theme...but struggle no more...i've got my final scheme!

as you can see i'm in a rhyming and nonsense kind of mood because i'm thrilled that not only did i finally decide on a nursery theme, but i got the bed set on SALE!  what more could a mommy ask for?

for months i was looking for a cute theme...something different, something fun.  at first i went the "decor" route.  chew shot that down claiming it wasn't "fun" enough, too boring.  wow...talk about reversal of roles, who was this masked man claiming to my husband?  you want FUN?  i'll give you FUN....so dr. seuss it is!  i figure, the theme can carry beaner thru a good part of his toddler years and maybe even beyond.  i discussed the theme with a muralist who said she would do it in august, but i think in the end, i'm just going to go with some seuss art work on the walls.  the nursery is fairly small and oddly shaped, so it's a bit harder to plan out.    but i'm just hoping it won't turn out too tacky..but boring it won't be!  today, i ran to pottery barn kids and picked up the bed sheets & bumper...for 20% off!  SCORE!

    suess room

now...after 2 years, what am i going to do with cooper's room?  monsters...monkeys....robots....yet another struggle...

    look at me!
    look at me NOW!
it is fun to have fun
but you have to know how."

  • "photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.”

one day, i was at a tapioca place with my brother, mom & cooper.  just having a relaxing visit while my brother was in town.  as i sat down, i noticed only another table by the window of 2 college-aged kids on their laptops and they didn't seem to mind cooper running around.  about 45 mins later, after cooper was running himself silly around the place, the college-aged guy came over and asked if it would be OK if he snapped a few photos of cooper.  he looked harmless enough so i said, "sure...why not."  he said he'll be back with his camera.  after a few minutes, he came back with a professional-looking camera.  i was surprised.  i guess i was just expecting a simple ol' point n' shoot.  SHRUG.  he basically stayed incognito, snapping away as cooper ran around and played.  not really trying to call attention to the camera but cooper is way too smart for that.  *wink*  cooper started hamming it up and playing with the guy.  he would look over and under a chair and go, "i see you" to the photographer.  it was pretty funny.  we probably stayed there for about 2 hours and every so often, the guy would grab his camera and do another mini session.  turns out the guy is indeed in college but does photography on the side for profit (weddings, ceremonies, bands, etc).  he thankfully turned out to be a geniuinely sweet guy and our family got to know him pretty well (probably more than he had anticipated).  i was flattered that he even asked to photograph cooper and proud of cooper for not being shy around the camera.  he promised to send them to me once he was finished so i can't wait to see how the photos turn out!

on another note, i'm soooo relieved that my glucose test results came out normal!! WHEW.  i was really worried about it this time.  i guess i don't really know what makes up this test ...all i know is that i have a huge sweettooth during this pregnancy. now i can have more cupcakes!!!!  *snicker*

  • bizarre love triangle

there's always been a bizarre love triangle in cooper's class.  in his toddler class, he was always torn between emma and giana.  both girls would charge at him when he arrived in class and hug and kiss and pull on him.  things settled down a bit when they transitioned into the 2's class since only giana transitioned.  emma was still too young and stayed behind in the todds.  in april, emma turned 2 and moved back into cooper & giana's class.  probably not making things easy on giana.  in any case, some mornings,  on the way into daycare, cooper will ask if emma will be there ...and other days it's other friends such as cain or giana.  this morning, as we walked from our car, cooper yelled out, "giana's daddy!"  i looked towards the daycare and there he was...walking up to the entrance with giana.  cooper saw giana and TOOK OFF...running toward her calling out "GI-ANNNA!!!"  as he ran towards her.  she turned around as she heard him calling her and screamed and ran towards him!  they screamed and laughed until they were together and hugged.  then...they both took off running towards their classroom....laughing, screaming and loving each other the whole way.  well...all was looking like a fairy tale of a story until they stepped into the classroom and emma immediately ran over to cooper....smiling and laughing and holding onto his arm. then i hear miss rhonda, "oh cooper, emma's been waiting for YOU!"  i look over at cooper....frozen in place...looking up..then down..then right..then left....not really sure what to do.  emma...giana....emma...giana...oh boy....the soap opera continues at daycare....
